Carolyn Oliver is a poet, writer, and editor based in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Carolyn is the author of two poetry collections: The Alcestis Machine (Acre Books, forthcoming 2024) and Inside the Storm I Want to Touch the Tremble (University of Utah Press, 2022), selected by Matthew Olzmann for the Agha Shahid Ali Prize in Poetry.
Her chapbooks are Night Ocean (Seven Kitchens Press, forthcoming 2023), Dearling (dancing girl press, 2022), and Mirror Factory (Bone & Ink Press, 2022).
She is a 2023-24 Artist in Residence at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Her writing has appeared in The Massachusetts Review, Poetry Daily, Tin House Online, Southern Indiana Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, Ninth Letter, Copper Nickel, Shenandoah, 32 Poems, Indiana Review, Cherry Tree, Smartish Pace, Plume, Catapult, Yalobusha Review, Cincinnati Review, SmokeLong Quarterly, Terrain.org, The South Carolina Review, Necessary Fiction, and in other journals and anthologies.
A nominee for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net in both fiction and poetry, Carolyn is the winner of the Goldstein Prize from Michigan Quarterly Review, the E. E. Cummings Prize from the NEPC, the Writer’s Block Prize in Poetry, and the Frank O’Hara Prize from The Worcester Review, where she now serves as editor.
